What Is the Price Transparency Explorer?

Modified on Mon, 9 Mar at 5:37 PM

Overview

The Price Transparency Explorer is a web-based analytics tool that transforms raw hospital and insurer price transparency data — published under federal mandate — into an interactive, map-driven interface. It allows users to explore negotiated rates between payers and providers at the ZIP code level, benchmark a specific provider's rates against the broader market, and identify pricing outliers and network opportunities across a state.

The application is built on top of Gigasheet as its data layer, meaning the large price transparency datasets live in a Gigasheet spreadsheet and the Explorer reads from it in real time. This design visualization in real-time without requiring manual exports or uploads.

Common Use Cases
Demonstrate competitive rate positioning to prospects; identify markets where rates are favorable
Identify geographic gaps, outlier providers, and payer-specific rate patterns across a state
Understand how their negotiated rates compare to market peers for specific billing codes and payers
