Understanding what data is and is not included in a query helps interpret results correctly.
Map Query (Apply Filters)
When you click Apply Filters on the Map View, the Explorer sends a query to your Gigasheet sheet with the following scope:
| Parameter | What It Filters |
|---|---|
| State | Only rows matching the selected state abbreviation |
| Specialty / Taxonomy | Only rows where the taxonomy code matches one of the selected codes |
| Billing Code | Only rows with the exact CPT/HCPCS code entered |
| Payers | Only rows where the payer name matches one of the selected payers |
| Smart Rate Only | When enabled, only rows where the Smart Rate flag is true/yes |
ZIP Code Rate Table Query (View All Data)
When you open the rate table for a specific ZIP code, the Explorer fetches all matching rows for that ZIP from your sheet, then aggregates them by NPI on the server. The aggregation computes the median rate and median Medicare % for each provider.
Provider Rate Detail Query (Expanded Row)
Expanding a provider row in the rate table triggers a second query that fetches the individual rate records for that NPI in the selected ZIP code. These are the raw, unaggregated rows from your sheet, showing each payer, billing code, place of service, modifiers, and exact dollar amount.
Benchmark Query
The Benchmark View queries your sheet for all rate records matching the selected taxonomy codes, billing codes, payers, and geographic area. It then separates records belonging to the entered NPI(s) from the broader market pool and calculates statistics for each group independently. There is no row limit on benchmark queries; all matching records are used.
What Is Not Included
The following data is excluded from all queries unless explicitly present in your source sheet:
- Rates from providers outside the selected state (when a state filter is active)
- Rows with a negotiated rate of zero or blank
- Rows with a missing or invalid ZIP code
- Rows where the Smart Rate flag is false/no (when Smart Rate Only is enabled)
